The Embassy of Japan in the country held a ceremony to award the Ambassador's Commendation to a local woman for her contributions to promoting friendship and educational exchanges between Brunei and Japan. The ceremony was held in Kampung Sungai Tilong, 13th February 2026.

The Ambassador's Commendation was awarded to Dayang Hajah Najmina Fairuz binti Haji Abd Latif, President of the Brunei Association of Japan Alumni, BAJA by His Excellency Kikuta Yutaka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam.
